ABOUT THE AUTHOR

Michael barr

Upon graduation I was completely unsure of my future. Fortunately, I decided to pursue my major and I began teaching special needs students.  Through my experiences as a teacher and soccer coach, I was able to write the fictional account of Kevin Matthews’ journey in Tales and Misadventures in Special Education.

Within my coaching career my teams had remarkable success. I also became a US Soccer Instructor working with adult coaches, children of all ages and bringing soccer to special needs students. I have been recognized by US Youth Soccer, United Soccer Coaches, Pennsylvania sports associations and my college and high school for my achievements on the field as well as in the classroom.

Insights

I wrote both Mollie Jean Goes to Her First Soccer Practice and Mollie Jean Scores Her First Goal to allow children to experience and enjoy the fun and excitement of playing soccer. Parents reading to their child or children reading on their own will relate to their own soccer games and practices. As a soccer education  instructor and coach, I want young children to feel comfortable and  look forward to the enjoyments of playing soccer.
